Compound material comprises a soft ferrite powder of the formula: A1-xBxFe2O4, or A1-x-y/2Bx-y/2Fe2+yO4 or CzA1-x-y/2-z/2Bx-y/2-z/2Fe2+yO4 (where A = Ni or Mn; B = Zn; C = Co, Ti or Cu; x = 0-1; y = 0-0.3; and z = 0-0.3). An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a housing component made from the compound material.
