The linear drive with no piston rod has a buffer element (27) to absorb shocks and has a retaining section for fitting between a tube unit (18) of the actuator and an end cover (4), and a buffer section protruding to the side over the tube unit. The buffer section at the front has an elastic shock absorbing section element facing the guide carriage (8) of a drive component (12) and on the rear side is supported by the end cover protruding over the tube unit.
