PURPOSE: An IPS switching mode LCD is provided to realize color not by any color filters but by forming electrode groups respectively having an LC layer of different angles to transmit R,G,B wavelength light respectively. CONSTITUTION: An IPS switching mode LCD includes three electrode groups(43-45) on a substrate(42) formed with an orientation film(41). The electrode groups are aligned on the substrate with an angle(α,β,&thgr;) respectively with respect to the substrate. When a voltage is applied, LC layers of the electrode groups are switched by predetermined different angles to transmit red, green and blue wavelength light respectively.
