A square paving stone is used in pedestrian areas also used by service vehicles. Two adjacent sides of each paving stone each have two trapezoidal tongues that engage at their tips in matching detents in an adjacent stone. The detent faces also have shallow wedges, each with a flat side-face that rests against the tongue side-face.
