The seat arrangement includes a device that allows changing a top surface profile of the seat surface (1) and/or the back surface (2) in a predetermined way. The device includes lifting plates that are allocated to the seat surface or the back surface and that can be moved in horizontal direction to the seat surface or the back surface using drives. Pressure cushions (1-14,21-26) are provided that can be filled with pressure fluid for changing the top surface profile. An Independent claim is also included for a method for operating the seat arrangement.
