A process introduces a feed ribbon (2) to a paper press. The ribbon passes from a first moving drum (1) to a second moving drum (3) especially using air suction operating through the second guide (3). The feed strip (2) is advanced by an air-permeable belt (13) running around the second guide (3), supported by a tangential compressed air flow directed towards the second guide. Also claimed is a commensurate paper feed assembly.
