A lawnmower comprises a housing (2), a hood (1) within the housing, a cutting chamber (3) within the hood above ground datum, and a grass-box (9) positioned above the hood. The grass-box (9) is pivotally mounted within the housing (2) for movement between a first operating position in which cut grass can enter the grass-box via an opening (9b) at one end, and a second operating position in which the grass-box opening faces away from ground datum, thereby preventing cut grass falling out of the grass-box. <IMAGE>
