<p>A seal for use in building and similar constructions consists of a compressed support which is in the form of a strip of foamed alpha-olefine polymer, with open cells which release air, or is a tube; a sealing material is then applied over the support. In the support, the volume of the compression is not greater than the volume of the open cells and the interior of the tube. Bubble formation in the sealing material is avoided The alpha-olefine polymer may be a (co)polymer of an aliphatic mono-olefine, but is particularly polyethylene or polypropylene.
