Named color substitution

A color value is selected by receiving a color name and a default color value by a language interpreter (4). The language interpreter (4) passes the color name to a color conversion routine (10) where the color name is matched to one of the color names in an index (6) of color names. The color value associated with the color name in the index (6) matching the received color name is selected. The color conversion routine (10) sends the selected color value to the language interpreter (4).
