The clamps (16) for the wooden profile (Q) on one sleigh can be operated independently from those on the other sleigh. Each sleigh is associated with a drive device (19) powered by an electric motor so that one sleigh can be moved along horizontal guides (14, 15) independently from the other sleigh. A conveyor (11) for the wooden profile is formed by two sleighs movable along parallel horizontal guides in the profile length direction. The conveyor passes through or is located to one side of a support structure (28) formed by a portal or column. A spindle head (31) mounted in the support structure can be moved relative to the profile. An independent claim is also included for a wood-working installation for mass production of wooden profiles, comprising a journal cutting and drilling machine for the ends of the profiles, followed by the above wood-working for drilling and cutting the length sides and ends of the profiles.
