The standard pipe used for releasing gas from an airbag unit in case of an impact is fitted with a second layer at its front serving as an adapter for the accommodation of the gas generator. The new design of the pipe (10) is provided with a cylindrical gas duct (11), a conical transitional segment (13) and a wider cylindrical area (12) for the accommodation of the gas generator. The material of the wider area (12) is folded back either in order to cover the outer surface of the wider (12) and the conical area (13) or to cover the wider area (12) only.
