PURPOSE:To obtain the subject derivative useful for improving the preservation stability of colored images in a heat-sensitive recording material by reacting a dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone compound with a styrene oxide compound under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone compound (e.g. 4,4'- dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone) reacts with a styrene oxide compound (e.g. styrene oxide or alpha-methylstyrene oxide) in the presence of an alkaline substance (e.g. sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide) in a two-layer system of water- organic solvent (e.g. benzene or toluene) to afford the objective derivative expressed by the formula [R<1> and R<2> are H, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkenyl; R<4> is H, lower alkyl or phenyl; (n), (m) and (p) are 1-4]. |
