[Also in Division A6] A tyre for a toy has an area of untoothed profile provided on its tread surface and an area of toothed profile provided on the surface of a side wall so that, in accordance with the relative positions of two such tyres, drive forces can be transmitted between them, either in friction drive through mutual engagement of the untoothed profiles, Fig. 1, or in a geared drive through mutual engagement of the toothed profile (Fig. 2, not shown). Fig. 1 shows a tyre in which the untoothed profile comprises two circumferentially raised ribs provided centrally on the tread surface of the tyre and so spaced that a like rib of another tyre can be located between them for frictional drive and in which the toothed profile extends radially of the rotation axis of the tyre and beyond the basic tyre profile. Drive forces may also be transmitted between two such tyres by passing a cord, band or belt around the pulley grooves formed on each tyre by the two circumferentially raised ribs. |
