<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the pulse width compressing method of a short-pulse laser beam, in which a precise adjustment mechanism is not needed and which is simple, when a short-pulse laser beam is generated and when the pulse width of a short-pulse laser beam whose pulse width is elongated, while the laser beam transmits or propagates the inside of a material is re-compressed. SOLUTION: The pulse width of a short-pulse laser beam, whose pulse width is elongated, is compressed into a pulse width shorter than the original pulse width, by converging the laser beam and by making the converged laser beam to be incident on a nonlinear medium and by self-converging action of the laser beam in the nonlinear medium.</p> |
