In a Coffie type regenerative coke oven battery, the flues 10 at the coke-pusher and coke-discharge sides of the battery connected to the heating flues through sole flues 7 and regenerators 6, are connected to the stack through flues 12, 13 arranged below the midpart of the battery. One flue 13 is connected to the sub-sole flues 10 on the coke guide side, and the other flue 12 is connected to the sub-sole flues on the other side of the battery. The use of connecting flues 12, 13 at the middle of the battery enables smaller side flues 10 to be used than if the connecting flues were sited at the end of the battery.
