PURPOSE:To improve melting efficiency by heating oxygen gas with exhaust combustion gas from a melting furnace in the melting of metallic material in the melting furnace using a specific purity oxygen gas. CONSTITUTION:At the time of melting the metallic material in the melting furnace 1 by using an oxygen gas having 60-100% purity as assist-combustion gas while directly colliding the oxygen burner flame, the oxygen gas is heated with the combustion gas exhausted from the melting furnace 1. By this method, the melting efficiency is improved. Particularly, in the case of an oxygen burner using pulverized coal as the fuel, high m.p. metallic material ordinarily being difficult to melt, e.g. iron scrap, can be made to melt. |
