PURPOSE: A registering method of a terminal unit using an access setup protocol is provided to enable a terminal unit to obtain a phone number from an SIP server and transmit it so that a user is not bothered to set specific values. CONSTITUTION: A terminal unit transmits MAC address to a proxy server(30,31). The proxy server requests transmission of terminal information according to the MAC address from a location server(32). The location server transmits terminal IP information to the proxy server(33). The proxy server transmits the terminal IP information to the terminal unit(34,35). The terminal unit transmits the terminal information to the proxy server, and in this case, a phone number is set as '0000'(36,37). The proxy server transmits the terminal information to the location server(38) to request a phone number and registration information of the corresponding terminal. The location server transmits a phone number and registration information of the corresponding terminal to the terminal unit(40,41). The terminal sets values newly, encodes the phone number and registration information and transmits them to the proxy server(42,43). The proxy server analyzes the register message and transmits it to the location server, and the location server performs registration, and if there is a problem, the location server transmits a "401 Error Return message" to inform about a reason(44-47).
