PURPOSE: An ink cartridge for an ink jet printer is provided to prevent a negative pressure maintenance unit from being decayed by installing the negative pressure maintenance unit at the outside of an ink storing part. CONSTITUTION: An ink cartridge for an ink jet printer includes a housing(101), an ink storing part(110), a print head(150), an ink supplying tube(154), a filter(152), a supporting plate(120), and a spring. The ink storing part(110) is positioned in the housing(101) and stores ink. The print head(150) emits ink of the ink storing part(110) to an ink medium. The ink supplying tube(154) guides ink flowing to the print head(150) from the ink storing part(110). The supporting plate(120) is installed at both sides of the ink storing part(110) in a vertical direction. The spring is installed such that an elastic bias is achieved. It is preferred that the spring includes a torsion spring and a wire spring. The supporting plate(120) is attached to the outside of the ink storing part(110), and the ink storing part(110) is formed with flexible vinyl.
