PURPOSE: Provided is a carbon seal coated with resins, which has excellent impermeability, chemical resistance, durability and low frictional coefficient, and improved anti-corrosive property and insulating property. CONSTITUTION: The carbon material seal comprises a carbon seal base, a silanol molecular layer as a coupling part, which spreads at both surfaces of the base in the form of thin leaves, and a furan resin layer which spreads at both surfaces of the coupling part in the form of thin leaves. The carbon seal is prepared by the method comprising the steps of: (a) impregnating the carbon seal base with mixed solution of ethyl alcohol, purified water and gamma-aminopropyltriethoxysilane; (b) drying the base and impregnating the base with a coating material containing furfuryl alcohol and p-toluenesulfonic acid as a curing agent; and (c) curing the base in a dryer and heating the dried base under argon for carrying out carbonization. |
