PURPOSE: A system for measuring a projection area of a vehicle using a CCD and a method thereof are provided to simplify a system structure and to reduce system costs by using only a laser transport unit. CONSTITUTION: A system for measuring a projection area of a vehicle using a CCD includes a turn table(21), a screen(22), a laser unit(23), a transport unit(24) and a signal processing unit(25). The turn table(21) allows the vehicle to be positioned at an upper part thereof. The screen(22) has a front surface consisting of CCDs. The laser unit(23) applies laser to the vehicle such that a shadow of the vehicle is projected on the screen. The signal processing unit(25) calculates an area of the shadow of the vehicle projected on the screen. A method for measuring the vehicle projection area includes the steps of initializing the CCDs and calculating a projection area of the car.
