PURPOSE: A safety traveling apparatus for a vehicle is provided to improve convenience for a driver, and to drive safely by changing the proceeding direction of a vehicle with looking ahead without checking a side mirror in changing a lane. CONSTITUTION: The safety traveling apparatus for a vehicle is composed of vehicle detecting sensors(11) installed in side mirrors of the vehicle to check vehicles traveling on the next lane; a steering angle sensor(12) installed in a steering column of a driver's seat to detect the steering angle of the steering wheel and the turning direction of the vehicle; a control unit(10) receiving signals from the vehicle detecting sensor and the steering angle sensor and deciding collision possibility of the vehicle in changing the direction according to the signal; and an alarm unit(13) warning the collision possibility to the driver. The alarm unit warns to the driver by sounding an alarm or blinking the warning lamp according to the control signal from the control unit.
