PURPOSE: An X-ray control method and an X-ray imaging apparatus are provided to reduce an X-ray exposure dose by calculating an X-ray exposure dose and displaying the calculated X-ray exposure dose by a display. CONSTITUTION: An X-ray control method comprises a first step(602) of setting an upper limit value of an X-ray exposure dose for an object; and a second step(606 to 610) of adjusting a tube current of an X-ray tube such that the exposure dose does not exceed the upper limit value. The second step is performed by calculating an estimated value of an X-ray exposure dose based on an imaging protocol, and modifying a tube current set value of the imaging protocol when the estimated value exceeds the upper limit value.
