PURPOSE: Hydrophobic material is attached to a surface of a ship by applying a plasma injection-coating technique, thereby reducing friction resistance. CONSTITUTION: A method for reducing surface friction resistance of a ship comprises a step of plasmatizing inert gases. A plasma jet is formed with the plasmatized inert gases. Hydrophobic coating material is applied to a surface of a material(10) by using the plasma jet to form a coating layer(11). The inert gases comprises helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, radon and nitrogen.
