PURPOSE: A tub for a drum type washing machine is provided to drain washing water and froth out of the tub by preventing washing water and froth from separating from a water collecting portion. CONSTITUTION: A tub(50) for a drum type washing machine comprises a main body(52) of the tub, a water collecting portion(54), a drain hole(56) and a rib(58) for cofferdam. The main body of the tub is arranged inside a drum(60) to be rotated. The water collecting portion is formed to lower portion of the main body of the tub to store washing water or froth. The drain hole is formed to a lower portion of the water collecting portion to drain washing water or forth of the water collecting portion out of the tub. The rib for cofferdam is formed to a side of the water collecting portion to drain washing water or forth to the drain hole easily. Thereby, draining washing water and froth is effective by preventing washing water and froth from moving along the main body of the tub due to rotational force of the drum.
