PURPOSE: A variable intake system of an air cleaner using the negative pressure of an engine is provided to increase the output of the engine while reducing intake noise by preventing an inserting pipe from being protruded into a case of driving the engine at a low-speed and low-load operation range and by protruding the inserting pipe into the case of driving the engine at a high-speed and high-load operation range. CONSTITUTION: A variable intake system of an air cleaner using the negative pressure of an engine combines an inserting pipe(15) to an outlet(11) of an air cleaner case(10) to move into and out of the case. The inserting pipe moves into and out of the case by a driving unit operating according to the intake negative pressure of a surge tank and according to driving conditions of the engine. The driving unit comprises a cylinder(20) for receiving the intake negative pressure to the driving conditions of the engine from the surge tank by coupling a connecting passage(23) formed at the end with the surge tank; a piston(21) of which one end is inserted into the cylinder and the other end is connected to the front end of the inserting pipe to move forward and backward into the intake negative pressure applied to the cylinder and make the inserting pipe move into and out of the case; and a return spring(22) installed in the cylinder to elastically support the piston.
