PURPOSE: A washing machine with an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent abnormal operation of the LCD and the washing machine by preventing a display function of the LCD from functioning if the peripheral temperature of the washing machine is under specified temperature. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine with an LCD comprises a peripheral temperature-sensing part(18) sensing the peripheral temperature; the LCD displaying a moving state and a function of the washing machine; and a control part(12) stopping the driving of the LCD if the peripheral temperature sensed from the peripheral temperature-sensing part is under specified temperature. The washing machine includes a setting part(19) for setting up the specified temperature.
