PURPOSE: A device for automatically distributing power to modules inserted into a live chassis, a method and a recording medium are provided to correlate a fabric type of a previously installed blade and/or a reciprocal connection device with a fabric type of a newly hot-plugged blade and/or a reciprocal connection device, before power is applied to the hot-plugged blade and/or the reciprocal connection device, thereby permitting or rejecting the power apply to the hot plugged blade and/or the connection device. CONSTITUTION: A program is started in a start block(202), and a fabric type is determined in a large block(204). The program determines a fabric configuration for powering on most blades/switches in a large block(206). The program selects a main fabric type in a block(208), and permits power to be supplied to a compatible processor module switch combination in a large block(210). The program completes in a block(212).
