PURPOSE: A microcomputer is provided to confirm data written to an operation mode setting register by automatically executing a read command after a write command of the operation mode setting register. CONSTITUTION: As the read command is executed by asserting a peripheral enable signal for one more cycle after executing the write operation by the write command for setting the data to the operation mode setting register in a state that the peripheral enable signal is inserted, a CPU(20) outputs the data set by a write operation to a peripheral data bus in peripheral bus during a command fetch period for reading the next command from a command storing memory(10) through a BIU(Bus Interface Unit)(30). A test register(60) sets the same data as the data set to the operation mode setting register for the write operation and outputs the data set by the write operation for the read operation. A comparator(70) outputs an interrupt request signal to the CPU for the read operation if the data output from the operation mode setting register is not identical with the data output from the test register.
