PURPOSE: A brush apparatus is provided to achieve improved sliding ability, corrosion resistance and heat resistance of a brush holder against a brush. CONSTITUTION: A brush apparatus comprises a brush holder(1) which holds a brush(2) contacting a segment(28) of a commutator(3). The brush holder is formed of a molten zinc-aluminum alloy plated steel sheet having a surface with a molten zinc-aluminum alloy plate layer containing aluminum 50 to 55 mass%. The brush holder is formed by coupling a pressed brush holder body and a plate.
