IMPROVED OPTICAL DISC RECORDING/PLAYING DEVICE FOR REDUCING MEMORY AND RECORDING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An improved optical disc recording/playing device for reducing a memory and a recording method thereof are provided to reduce the memory by updating/reading the write strategy data changed according to a recording speed through the single memory. CONSTITUTION: An EFM(Eight-to-Fourteen Modulation) modulator(34) generates an EFM signal by modulating digital data. The memory(36) stores the write strategy data preset by a recording pattern. A recording signal generator(35) generates the recording control signals from the EFM signal by using the write strategy data. A laser driver(40) regulates driving power level by responding to the recording control signals. A pickup(41) forms a recording pattern by irradiating a laser beam to the optical disc(42). A microcomputer(39) synchronizes/outputs the update data and a write address for the write strategy data with the first clock signal. A data write controller(37) stores the update data and the write address, and writes the update data to an update area by synchronizing with the second clock signal. The recording areas respectively include the update area.
