PURPOSE: A paging method for setting a reception call in a mobile communication system is provided to perform a paging process by using a neighbor list, in order to increase a paging response rate and a reception call setup completion rate, thereby reducing the secondary paging generation rate. CONSTITUTION: An RNC has information of a base station in PLD(Program Loading Data) type(S301). An MSC transmits a paging request message(S302). The RNC retrieves a base station boundary sector information table(S303). The RNC decides whether a received sector ID exists within the base station boundary sector information table(S304). If so, the RNC performs a neighbor list-based paging process(S305). The RNC decides whether the paging process is successful(S306). If not, the RNC performs a section-based paging process(S307). If a paging response is received, the RNC carries out a standard reception call setup procedure(S311).
