PURPOSE: A hydraulic power steering system for a vehicle is provided to prevent steering impact by dividing an oil line into an oil supply line and an oil collection line and preventing oil supplied to right and left pressure chambers from colliding with oil collected. CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic power steering system for a vehicle selectively supplies and collects oil pumped from an oil tank(15) by an oil pump(1) to right and left pressure chambers(4a,4b) of a hydraulic cylinder(4) installed to a rack(3) through a passage change of a control valve(2), and supplements steering force of a steering wheel by making the oil pressure selectively supplied to the right and left pressure chambers given to the rack. The hydraulic power steering system comprises right and left oil supply lines(6,7) connecting the control valve to the right and left pressure chambers for oil supply; right and left oil collection lines(8,9) connecting the right and left pressure chambers to the oil tank, to oil discharge; and right and left discharge valves(10,11) each installed to the right and left oil collection lines to selectively open the right and left oil collection lines when the oil pressure of the right and left oil collection lines exceeds reference pressure.
