<p>PURPOSE: A hemostatic wound dressing containing aldehyde-modified polysaccharide is provided to have hemostatic and antimicrobial actions and to be compatible with an acid sensitive spices. CONSTITUTION: The hemostatic wound dressing comprises a substrate for contacting to the wound, wherein the substrate comprises a wound contacting surface and a aldehyde-modified biocompatible polysaccharide. The substrate includes fiber, fabric, sponge, foam, film, bead, gel and combination thereof. The aldehyde-modified polysaccharide includes modified cellulose, alkyl cellulose, alkylhydroxy alkyl cellulose, hydroxy alkyl cellulose, cellulose sulfate, a salt of carboxymethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, carboxyethyl cellulose, chitin, carboxy methyl chitin and so on.</p> |
