PURPOSE: An electric parking brake system is provided to simplify the structure, to solve completely problems related to tension of an existing parking cable, and to park and brake conveniently a vehicle with switch operations by parking and braking the vehicle by constraining a constant velocity joint with electromagnetic force generated by the switch operation. CONSTITUTION: The electric parking brake system is composed of a ring gear(32) formed along the outer ring of a constant velocity joint(30) for connecting an axle(20) and a final reduction device in a transmission case(10); a locking device(40) engaged with the ring gear to constrain the rotation of the constant velocity joint; and a parking operation unit(50) switch-operated by a user to engage or separate the locking device to/from the ring gear. The locking device comprises a case; constraining teeth engaged to or separated from the ring gear with sliding in the case; a spring for engaging the constraining teeth to the ring gear; and an electromagnet magnetized by receiving power to the switch operations of the parking operation unit to separate the constraining teeth from the ring gear.
