PURPOSE: A spin valve head and a magnetic recording device are provided to mount a magnetic head equipped with a spin valve head on a recording device, thereby easily coping with an increase of a plane recording density of a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A spin valve head is equipped with pin magnetic layers accumulated in order of the first pin magnetic layer(141), a non-magnetic layer(15), and the second pin magnetic layer(142). An insulator specular layer(22) is laminated between the first pin magnetic layer(141) and the second pin magnetic layer(142). The insulator specular layer(22) consists of Co, Ni, Fe or alloy oxide including at least one of Co, Ni, and Fe. The insulator specular layer(22) is 0.6nm to 1.0nm in thickness.
