The starter consists of a motor (1) with a main body (28) and a motor shaft (2) extending from it, an output shaft (8) that has an external section (14) round the outside of motor shaft, and a clutch mechanism (23) between the motor shaft and the external section of the output shaft. The output shaft is mounted coaxially on the forward end (7) of the motor shaft and able to turn freely relative to it, while the clutch mechanism has an inner section (16) that turns together with the motor shaft, and a transmission housing (22) that transmits the rotation from the motor shaft to the external section of the output shaft.
