<p>The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for monitoring a sedated patient, in particular in order to establish an output signal which indicates the state of awakening in the patient. The method comprises the steps of providing a skin conductance signal measured at an area of the patient's skin, calculating an average value of the amplitude of fluctuation peaks in the skin conductance signal through a time interval, comparing the average value with a limit value, and establishing an output signal which indicates the state of awakening in the patient if the average value exceeds the limit value.</p> |
