PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grasp the amount of wear of a tuyere exactly on-line without operation loss. SOLUTION: A pulse electric signal is applied to a gap between an outer pipe 24 and an inner pipe 22, electrically insulated from each other, of a double-pipe tuyere 20 or to a gap between an outer layer 44 and an inner layer 42, with an electrical insulation layer 46 inserted into between the two layers, of a single-pipe tuyere 40. The time until the pulse electric signal reflected at the tip of the outer and inner pipes (layers) returns to the signal application site is measured. Based on the measured time, the distance between the application site and the tip of the tuyere is obtained, and according to the distance, the amount of wear of the tuyere is obtained.
