PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a newμ-oxo bridged heterometal compound which may offer more diversity to the characteristics of photo-functional materials, and to provide a production process which supplies the heterometal compound simply, selectively and with a high yield. SOLUTION: Theμ-oxo bridged heterometal compound is a compound which comprises a metal naphthalocyanine or a metal phthalocyanine containing a central metal M1 and a metal naphthalocyanine or a metal phthalocyanine containing a central metal M2, the central metal atoms M1 and M2 being oxo-bridged. The compound is represented by NcM1-O-M2Nc, PcM1-O-M2Nc, and NcM1-O-M2Pc, wherein Nc is the naphthalocyanine and Pc is the phthalocyanine; M1 is a metal atom capable of having a valence of up to three and M2 is a metal atom capable of having a valence of four or five.
