PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an acetylphenylmethane derivative. SOLUTION: A hydroxy group of a phenylhydroxyphenylmethane derivative is converted to a trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy group and coupling reaction of the produced trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy group with vinyl ether is carried out to form enol ether and the formed enol ether is hydrolyzed to convert the enol ether to an acetyl group. Thereby, the hydroxy group of a phenylhydroxy group can be converted to the acetyl group and consequently, the desired acetylphenylmethane derivative can efficiently be produced.
