PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal head having an insulating barrier film formed on a plurality of heating resistors in which the number of manufacturing steps can be decreased and the heating resistor is not overlaid with a conductor, and to provide its manufacturing process. SOLUTION: The thermal head 1 comprises a plurality of heating resistors 4a, an insulating barrier film 5 determining the planar size of each heating resistor 4a, and a conductor 6 leading to the opposite end parts of each heating resistor 4a in the longitudinal direction. The heating resistor 4a and the insulating barrier film 5 are not overlaid with the end part of the conductor 6 on the heating resistor 4a side but the end part is inclined to decrease the film thickness toward the heating resistor 4a.
