PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder in which overlapped parts of an image subjected to split printing can be joined to ensure high image quality. SOLUTION: The image recorder has two recording heads 106 and 107 arranged such that a plurality of recording heads are jointed to have overlapped parts in the arranging direction of recording elements. End part of each recording element under use in the recording element arrays of two recording heads 106 and 107 is located at the overlapped part. Each recording head 106, 107 is arranged such that the position of the end part of recording elements under use in the recording element array of the other recording head 107 is spaced apart from the position of the end part of recording elements under use in the recording element array of one recording head 106 by a distance shorter than 1.0 times of the arranging pitch of the recording elements to the other recording head 107 side along the arranging direction.
