<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device in which utilization efficiency of light can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: The light guide plate 23 comprises a first and a second surfaces 27, 28 which are flat and are formed on a mutually parallel plane. The illumination light from a light source 22 is irradiated on the light guide plate 23 through a first side face 29 facing the light source 22. An emitting body 26 made of a material having a refractive index larger than the refractive index of the light guide plate 23 is directly provided on the first surface 27 of a light guide plate 23. The emitting body 26 comprises a first and a second emitting faces 35a, 35b of flat shape that are slanted from the face vertical to the first surface 27 so that the cross section parallel to the first face 27 may become smaller as they go away from the first surface 27. The illumination light entered from the emitting body 26 from the light guide plate 23 is emitted in nearly vertical direction against the first surface 27 from the first and the second emitting faces 35a, 35b. Thereby, the amount of light introduced into the object is made as much as possible and the utilization efficiency of the light can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
