PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device for a towed vehicle with a simple mechanism, capable of smoothly carrying the towed vehicle. SOLUTION: The braking device A for the towed vehicle 1 towed by a towing vehicle is provided with a slide means 9 sliding relatively backwards with respect to a towed vehicle main body 2 by the speed reduction of the towing vehicle, a wedge body 10 connected to a rear end of the slide means 9, a brake operating means 11 which is pressed by one inclined face 10a of the wedge body 10 to be moved back when the slide means 9 slides backwards and the wedge body 10 goes back, and operates a brake 13 of the towed vehicle 1, and a buffering means 12 going back pressing the other inclined face 10b of the wedge body 10.
