<p>Method for the detection of PrP<Sc> in a sample containing PrP<C> and possibly PrP<Sc>, in which the sample is subjected to protease treatment in order to digest PrP<C> and in which chaotropic agents may be added to reduce the risk of false positive results, wherein the protease digestion is carried out in the presence of the chaotropic agent and that the conditions under which the chaotropic agent is applied are adjusted to enhance sensitivity of PrP<C> to protease digestion whereas PrP<Sc> remains insensitive.</p> |
