The invention relates to a vehicle tyre wear indicator system which can be used with any type of tyre or vehicle. The invention is characterised in that the tread (2) of any type of tyre (1) comprises two layers (3 and 4) which are differentiated by means of colour, whereby the colour of the outer layer (3) is that of a standard tyre while the colour of the inner layer (4), which indicates the tread depth at which the tyre must be changed, is noticeably different from that of the outer layer. In this way, once the outer layer (3) of the tread (2) has been worn, the differently-coloured inner layer (4) appears, visually indicating that the tyre is worn and must be changed.
