A dc high-voltage generator used in an external electrification system electrostatic painting spray gun provided with an atomizer and a charging electrode provided on the outer side of the atomizer so as to be separated from and kept clear of the passage of paint to be supplied to the atomizer, wherein a step-up transformer and a multi-stage double-voltage rectifying circuit are disposed laid one on top another, a plurality of resistor elements are bundled in a longitudinal direction and connected in series to form a 100-400-Mohm protecting high-resistor, and the step-up transformer, the multi-stage double-voltage rectifying circuit and the resistor are formed integrally using insulating resin. Accordingly, the spray gun itself can be reduced in size and weight to improve operating performance.
