PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display and a method for manufacturing the display produced by which a complicated pattern in a storage part is simplified to decrease the number of masks by applying a diffraction pattern used in the channel part of a thin film transistor for an on-common type storage part in a liquid crystal display manufactured in four-mask processes. SOLUTION: The array substrate for a liquid crystal display on which an on-common type storage capacitor is formed includes: a storage lower electrode 116 crossing data lines 110, 112 and being in the layer where gate lines 109, 119 are to be formed and being parallel to the gate lines 109, 119; and a storage capacitor having a semiconductor layer 113 formed by using a diffraction pattern between the storage lower electrode 116 and a pixel electrode 115.
