PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-sided recording and reproducing optical disk apparatus of a thin profile at a low cost. SOLUTION: As for the optical disk apparatus where at least one optical pickup 1 is arranged opposing each of the recording surfaces of an optical disk 2 provided with the recording surfaces on both sides, a rotation mechanism (a spindle motor 3 and an optical disk clamper 4) for holding and rotating the optical disk 2 is moved in the direction of the optical axis of the optical pickups 1.
