PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the manufacturing method of an optical waveguide in which the reducing of transmission loss and the improving of productivity are possible. SOLUTION: After the recessed part for optical waveguide pattern formed on a master substrate is covered with a lid, a liquid core material is poured into the recessed part and a core layer is formed by hardening the core material, the lid is peeled off the master substrate. Since the core layer can be formed by transfer from the master substrate by pouring the core material into the recessed part for optical waveguide pattern and by hardening it, efficient manufacture of optical waveguides becomes possible. Moreover, since the core material can be poured into the recessed part in a state in which the recessed part for optical waveguide pattern is covered with the lid, leakage of the core material from the recessed part causing lowering in transmission efficiency can be prevented.
